Camping in France – review, prices, offers

Camping in France is becoming increasingly popular among tourists from Poland. This fact should not come as a surprise, since France itself is the undisputed leader in traveler ratings. Every year the country is visited by 85 to almost 90 million people, and according to the World Tourism Organization, France ranks first in the number of tourists, ahead even of the United States.

Camping in France – prices

There are several thousand campsites in France, perfectly adapted to the needs of campervans and caravans, superbly equipped and at a world class level. The average cost for two adults per stay (camper and electricity in high season in a campsite with a minimum rating of 8 stars) is approximately 39 euros per night and this is a large amount for the European average. Prices do not deter tourists, because French campsites are worth it. They represent quality, amazing locations and breathtaking views. Lots with trailers are slightly cheaper. Prices start from 10 euros in less popular places and up to 30 euros in prestigious, highly rated campsites.

In France, tolls are collected at motorway toll booths, which is something to keep in mind when calculating the cost of your trip. As a rule: wild camping is not allowed, but the situation is much more complicated. In some areas, local authorities allow camping in certain parking lots, while in others you can camp on private property with the owner's permission. In practice, this means that you need to familiarize yourself with local rules and customs before traveling and be prepared for the fact that they can be quite complex.
