Kia reveals first images of electric EV6

The Kia EV6 is the brand's first electric vehicle with a BEV battery and the first vehicle to be based on a new design philosophy.

On Monday, Kia revealed the first images of the EV6, its first dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV).

The images revealed by the manufacturer show us the exterior and interior design of the EV6, before having its world premiere.

“The EV6, Kia's first exclusive electric vehicle, showcases progressive human-centered design and electrified power. We strongly believe that the EV6 is an attractive and relevant model for the new electric vehicle market.” “With EV6, our goal was to create a distinctive and striking design, using a combination of sophisticated high-tech features in clean and rich volumes, while providing the unique space of a futuristic electric vehicle.”

The manufacturer explains that the EV6 was designed under the brand's new design philosophy, Opposites United, which is inspired by the contrasts found in nature and humanity. 

At the heart of this design philosophy is a new visual identity with contrasting combinations of sharp stylistic elements and sculptural forms.

Based on Electric Electric's new Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV6 design is Kia's first purpose-built electric vehicle influenced by a new design philosophy reflecting Kia's shift in focus towards electrification.

Opposites United, is a new style of vehicle design on which Kia will base all of its future developments.

According to the manufacturer, the philosophy Opposites United based on five key design principles: 

– Bold by nature. This design pillar creates organic yet technical structures and finishes for vehicle interiors

– Joy for reason. Future designs will merge the emotional with the rational, creating vehicles that influence the mood of passengers, relaxing and inspiring them. It will also influence the adoption of new organic materials and bolder colors, which express a sense of youth and joy.

– Power to progress. Future designs will draw on experience and creativity to invent and innovate new designs.

– Technology for life. Embrace new technologies and innovations to foster positive human-machine interactions

– Tension for serenity. It offers striking design concepts that use sharp, highly technical details to create surface tension and realize a harmonized, future-oriented design vision.

“We want our products to provide an instinctive and natural experience that enhances our customers' daily lives. Our goal is to design the physical experience of our brand and create original, inventive and exciting electric vehicles. The ideas of our designers and the purpose of the brand are connected more than ever to our customers, who are at the center of what we do and influence every decision we make,” added Karim Habib.
