If you are determined to put your luggage on the roof only in winter, you can buy a magnetic roof rack. These are two separate holders with magnetic stripes on the bottom. There are several versions for two pairs of skis (with or without poles) or two snowboards. Holders can be locked with a key, which makes it difficult for thieves not only to remove skis, but also to remove everything

If you want to use the trunk in the summer, you should buy beams on which various attachments are attached: baskets, drawers and handles. The latter allow you to carry from one to six pairs of skis of various types or snowboards. Skis can be attached to the roof horizontally, diagonally or vertically. It is worth looking for bindings that allow you to carry skis in a bag. Thanks to this, we will avoid their pollution during the movement.
Skis can also be transported in boxes - closed, aerodynamic "boxes". Their advantage is that they can accommodate not only skis, but also boots or other equipment for recreation.

The main limitation when loading luggage is the load capacity of the roof. As a rule, manufacturers indicate it in 50 kg (in some models up to 75 kg). This does not mean that we can safely throw so much luggage on the roof, but that luggage and trunk together can weigh up to 50 (or 75) kg. So you might want to consider buying aluminum kits that weigh 30 percent.
