Do you love camping, getting back to nature and enjoying the outdoors? If you do, then you know that getting there can be half the fun, and even better if you have a great drive.
We have rated several used vehicles and selected the top five for camping. These are Honda CR-V, Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Expedition, Jeep Wrangler and Chevrolet Suburban.
Honda CR-V: This is an ideal campsite for small families or couples. It's available in front- or all-wheel drive, and it's easy on gas (up to 27 mpg on the highway), even if you're bringing the whole family and all their gear. It also handles very well and has 72.9 cubic feet of cargo space.
Hyundai Santa Fe: This is a solid representative of the SUV category with a powerful V6 engine and stylish appearance. It can be upgraded to a seven-seat passenger compartment and has consistently been the top choice for the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). It also has plenty of space, with a cargo capacity of 78.2 cubic feet.
Ford Expedition: The Expedition is a large, rugged off-road vehicle that seats eight and has enough room for everything you need to take on your hike. The interior is comfortable and you'll find that you can change lanes, overtake and merge with ease. It has a whopping 108.3 cubic feet of cargo space.
Jeep Wrangler: For many, the Wrangler is associated with camping. If your idea of camping calls for the rough, the Wrangler will take you pretty much anywhere you want—you don't have to stick to the beaten path. The Wrangler can carry 82 cubic feet of cargo.
Chevrolet Suburban: Yes, we know they are huge and we know they are not that good on petrol and not that eco friendly, but this is a luxury setup! We don't recommend you make it your vehicle for getting around the city, but if you want to travel and camp in complete comfort, the Burb, with its whopping 137.4 cubic feet of cargo space, is definitely worth considering.
Couples, small families or the whole gang must agree that this is the choice of great off-road vehicles for any touring contingent.
