The XR has a more relaxed character, it is intended for those who are closer to sports and touring driving and who are driven by the desire to explore distant places. Solo or together. Whereas the R model is a sparkle decomposer, the XR is more easily refined.... But behind this sophistication lies a sporty soul, so it's perfect for those keen on a more dynamic ride on the road. Motorcycles have a lot in common: their mechanical heart is the same, parallel, water-cooled two-cylinder with displacement 895 cubic centimeters. Despite its various uses, the XR engine has the same properties as the stripped-down R model.... For example, electronic aids, BMW-capable TFT display and equipment kits are the same.

Although he has F 900 XR front grille with a different shape, with different LED front lights and front windshield – manually adjustable and has two positions – and as an option, this model also has Adaptive Cornering Lights technology, which otherwise works a little differently due to a different design. However, an important difference between the two models is hidden from view. These are their different ergonomic handlebar-seat-foot triangles.

While the ergonomics of the R means a more aggressive driving position, the XR is more relaxed, with a greater angle at the rider's knees. therefore it sits more upright like the GS.... The frame also differs from its sister model, which is narrower in places, with the handlebars shifted slightly backward and the pedals lower and forward. The standard seat height is 825 millimeters, which is an inch higher than the naked sibling. For the XR, seats are available with heights ranging from 775 to 870 millimeters above the ground.

On the road alone or in pairs

The bike works harder than its brother because of the front grille, given the fact that it has the fuel tank is 15.5 liters, the dashiravo numbers on the scales show the same weight, i.e. 219 kg with all liquids... However, when I sit on it, it seems to me that I am sitting on a completely different motorcycle due to the described differences. The position is straight, relaxed. When I start it, the same exhaust sound is the same as in the R model. I like driving on the highway because the front windshield slices through the air in front of me, and I enjoy driving on long bends on twisty country roads even more.

Despite the more touristy driving position, the narrower and slower cornering is also exciting. The measured test flow rate was slightly lower (5,8 l / km) than the R model., which can also be attributed to less aggressive driving. It will also be interesting when a passenger sits on it. It should be noted that, among other things, a set of soft suitcases is available as an accessory.
