We Ride: Can-Am Ryker Rally Edition // We Ride – Can-Am Ryker Rally Edition – Space Transport

The action of a car with two wheels in front and one in the back is not new. Can-Am launched the Spyder on the road ten years ago, but the enjoyable ride ended on the first rubble, where the fun begins for Riker.

The Ryker is not a version of the Spyder, it is an autonomous, self-driving vehicle for a new generation of drivers who want affordable, low-maintenance entertainment, striking otherness, interactivity and flexibility. It comes with a category B exam and is therefore accessible to almost anyone for whom a car is not exciting enough for day trips or weekend trips. This is not a passenger, but a "fanmobile" that allows you to drift with the steering wheel, but without the possibility of falling. Already, it would seem, due to the “all but one wheel in front” design, it works aggressively, attractively, quickly and at the same time provides good grip on the front tires. The seat just 60 centimeters above the ground means an extremely low center of gravity and literally blends into the car.

The three-cylinder transmission with a volume of 900 cubic meters at 61 kilowatts (there is also a third smaller and weaker version of Ryker) with a car weight of 280 kilograms is enough for a brisk ride, which in a sports or rally program allows for a good amount of drift. The electronics still intervene and limit the drive wheel power when they feel like they might be in trouble, but at least on gravel it is a lot of fun. After several hundred miles of twisty Portuguese trolley trails, I dare say it's even easier fun than the classic ATV, which has a higher center of gravity, tilts more and requires more body work. The rally version, which is a variation on the Ryker enduro version, features longer shock travel, rougher tires and protected vital parts.

In terms of details, Riker is a real chameleon. It offers up to 75.000 possible finish combinations both in color combinations and in the additional items that can be installed on it, be it cosmetic accessories or an additional passenger seat. The most important is the practical modification that allows us to move the steering wheel and the position of the pedals in one motion, adapting it to the rider's size or driving style. The CVT makes driving worry-free, and the lack of power steering makes the ground straight and therefore more fun to drive. And most importantly: all this at a very affordable price for a motorcycle, much less than, for example, a three-wheeled Spyder. A

APPEARANCE: Appearance is one of Riker's main assets. This car is different from almost all the others. But it's not only striking, but with the Y-shaped design, it performs consistently and aggressively, and when the seat is low, it promises good driving performance. 5 *

ENGINE: 900cc Rotax XNUMX-cylinder engine See with torque and power

satisfies all driving needs, and the continuously variable CVT transmission ensures an easy and worry-free driving experience. Smaller two-cylinder version of the 600cc transmission. See is quite suitable, but not for sports drivers. 4 *

COMFORT. Adjustable pedals and steering wheel allow you to adjust the dimensions of the body and even your driving preferences, making driving, including in an excellent seat, comfortable. Body wind protection is better than on naked motorcycles. Shock travel is small, but this car is not designed for

ride comfort but driving pleasure. 4 *

PRICE: One of Ryker's main goals is affordability. The base version is welcome at the four-figure sum of 9.799 euros, as is the largest - for the Rally model with a volume of 900 cubic meters, with another three thousand it is fully comparable with motorcycles of the same volume. 3*

RATING: The Ryker is a fun car designed for those who find a motorcycle too demanding and a car not fun enough. It promises to be different and is a lot of fun to drive. Forget passing columns along the line, because it's not designed for that, but the Rally model gives a whole new dimension to driving on rubble, as it can't be experienced on anything else - not even on ATVs. 4 *
