We drove: Ducati Diavel 1260 S // Show of noble muscles

Do you know where the name came from? Diavel is the name of the devil in the Bolognese dialect, but he got it when people in the factory were wondering: "How, devil What are we going to call this new car? » This moniker has been retained and is the official name of a motorcycle that combines three completely different motorcycle styles: sport, stripped and cruiser. If we add the idea of American muscle cars and comic book characters to this cocktail of motorcycle styles, the Diavel is born. As they say in Bologna, the 1260 S is new, so much so that it has changes. It features a charged, compacted and solid front end with a flat steering wheel, a recognizable headlight, air ducts on the sides, and now new “3D light blade” turn signals.

It ends with a narrow rear end and a wide rear tire over a low-sitting seat. Pirelli Diablo Rosso III, the dimensions are the same as the MotoGP. The design is recognizable and perfect in Italian, so it comes as no surprise that it has just been awarded the prestigious Red Dot Award. However, with the changed geometry of the front fork and front end, it is 10 millimeters longer than its predecessor, and service intervals increase, which is important. The target audience? Middle-aged men in their forties and fifties who like to flaunt their differences. They are led by Americans and Italians.

The technique repeats the design and vice versa

If you look at the Diavel from the side, you'll notice that the chassis is made up of three parts: the front tubular frame - which is also new - the two-cylinder Testastretta DVT 1262, which is the center piece attached to the body. tubular frame and new single-link rear swingarm. The unit that is in the new Diavl due to better mass distribution placed 60 millimeters back, has seven more horsepower than its predecessor, and its "cargo" torque reserve, especially at mid-range, gives it real value.

Already in the basic version, the three-way unit is richly equipped with the Ducati Safety electronic package, which is worth mentioning Bosch ABS, and the anti-slip system for the rear and the prevention of the lifting of the first wheel. The Quickshifter is great on the S, as is the TFT color display and Öhlins suspension. You can also customize your motorcycle according to your wishes in the Ducati Link app.

King of turns

When I get on it, a messy fuel tank and a seat in the saddle await me. The position behind the wide handlebars is a mixture of a naked motorcycle and a cruiser, with the legs slightly extended forward. He works hard in his hands, but after the first few meters of the ride, the weight is lost. Even maneuvering in the narrow streets of Marabel, where we, the reporters, gathered to check, is not a problem. Following a road full of sharp and smooth curves, we arrive at the town of Rondi. I rarely switch, I drive at a very fast pace, most often in third, sometimes in second and fourth gear. Despite the 244 kilograms, the motorcycle passes corners perfectly, accelerates from them well and without nervousness, and thanks to reliable brakes, the Brembo M50 calmly falls through corners. No, this car is not only for demonstration, acceleration or lazy cruising, with it you can be very fast. And even in front of the counter, the new Diavel 1260 S won't let you down.
