We drove: Husqvarna Enduro 2010

Last year's version was a good enduro machine, especially with the 300cc kit (TE 310), but since the base model was 450cc it was known for its (extra) pounds. In terms of driving performance, the TE 250 was easier to compare with the TE 450 than with a children's two-stroke engine (for example, the WR 250), but the opposite is true with the newcomer.

Both Jerney and I, who helped us with our racing experience on test drives this time, were of the opinion that the handling of the TE 250 IU could compete with the two-stroke range. Perhaps it seems even more agile than the untreated WR 300!

And how did they do it? It is already clear to you that the 22 kg block, which is 13 percent smaller, is actually "dry" compared to the block in TE 310 (which is the same on the outside as in TE 250 last year). The four radially positioned valves in the cylinder head are made of titanium, and the transmission and engine oil weighs just 900 grams.

Also new are the frame, Kayaba front fork, plastic parts and headlights. In the lower rev range, the engine pulls well, but of course, you shouldn't expect the responsiveness of the more powerful engines. At higher revs, it literally tears it up and then easily follows the bikes with a lot of "horses" along the twisty track in the right hands.

The suspension is mostly quite soft, which I liked as an amateur driver, and Jerney wanted more strength, which is understandable for a professional rider.

The second line of four-stroke engines seemed cumbersome after the newcomer's testing, and it really is time for Husqvarna to have to more specifically overhaul the TE 450 and 510. The 310 TE 2010 remains on sale based on last year's. for now.

The entire lineup has been redesigned with new graphics, new headlights, redesigned cooling system connections and wiring, and shorter rear swinging forks by an inch and a half for easier maneuvering. All models except the WR 125 and TE 310 now have a Kayaba front fork.

First impression

Appearance 4/5

In order for the new Husqvarnas to make it into the top five, we will have to wait for more specific exterior repairs.

Motor 5/5

New 250cc four-stroke engine See, the most important innovation is more powerful and lighter, and with electronic fuel injection, it responds smoothly and tirelessly, which is good for an enduro. We are waiting for the electric starter in the two-stroke range.

Comfort 3/5

We have no comments on ergonomics, but we are concerned about little things like the unprotected exhaust pipe or the exhaust muffler in the WR 300, which is too close to the rear fender, which makes it difficult to move the motorcycle by hand. For large enduros, the TE 250 may be (too) small.

Price 3/5

When comparing enduro cars to road bikes, they seem unnecessarily expensive, but here the prices of SUVs change. It is expected that the price of the new TE 250 i.e. will be slightly higher.

First class 4/5

The TE 250 IU scored an A, while other models have disadvantages in that they do not deserve top marks. We'll have to wait for more specific repairs, for example, replacing graphics, suspension and a few screws.
