In Sweden, specifically in Uddevalla, which is a regular venue for World Championship races, we tested the new Kawasaki KX 450F, now equipped only with an electric starter. In cold, winter temperatures, which do not suit the batteries too much, this can prove to be a disadvantage, so you will have to take a charger or a spare battery for training in December and January. A big novelty is also the hydraulic clutch, which allows the driver more sophisticated use and better sensations while driving. The smile on his face, however, draws the suspension, above all showa fork, which again work on classic springs and oil (no longer on compressed air). They are easily adjustable and this is the reason why they are suitable for both beginners and professional racers. The exterior brings a whole new look with retro graphics and a change of name. The letter F, which has so far marked four-stroke models, has said goodbye, but since Kawasaki now only makes four-stroke engines, there is no need for such a distinction. So now it’s just the KX 450. Alongside the standard green racing color, it’s a whole new frame. This has put the center of gravity at Kawasaki even lower, which is reflected in better handling, which is crucial for smooth and fast driving. The modified axle of the first wheel due to the new brake disc also contributes to better handling.

Concerning engine running while driving, The Kawasaki KX450F was again positively surprised, as it offers a lot of power, but it is very evenly distributed over the entire rev range, so the driver does not get too tired. It is also worth mentioning the possibility of three different engine operating programs, which are basically intended for dry, muddy or sandy terrain. Not only a lot of power is enough for fast driving, but also the safe well-being of the driver, which Kawasaki has achieved with Nissin brakes, which allow for sophisticated braking, while the slightly modified shape of the motorcycle allows the rider to move more freely. Thus, the new KX450F boasts an electric starter, hydraulic clutch, suspension operation, ergonomics, appearance and flexible engine with various settings, and the only drawback could be that it no longer has the option of foot-starting the engine.
