New rules for training in driving schools 2014/2015

If you still don’t have rights, then perhaps it’s time to do this, since in February 2014 new rules for training in driving schools were adopted.

There are no particularly serious changes for students, but increased requirements will be imposed on driving schools. Let's take a closer look at exactly what changes have come into force since February 2014.

Changes in rights categories

In November 2013, new categories of rights appeared, which we have already written about. Now, even to ride a light moped or scooter, you need to get a driver's license with category “M”. Other categories appeared: “A1”, “B1”, “C1” and “D1”. If you want to become a trolleybus or tram driver, then you will need a license with the category “Tb”, “Tm”, respectively.

A separate category “E” for vehicles with a trailer over 750 kilograms has disappeared. Instead, subcategories are used: “CE”, “C1E”, and so on.

In addition, another important change has come into effect: if you want to get a new category, then you will only need to complete the practical part of the training and pass the driving test on a new vehicle. You do not have to re-learn the rules of the road.

Cancellation of an external

Previously, it was not necessary to attend a driving school in order to pass the exam at the traffic police, you could prepare yourself, and take a driving course with a private instructor. Today, unfortunately or fortunately, such a norm has been canceled - if you want to get a license, go to school and pay for education.

Automatic transmission

We all know that it is much easier to drive with an automatic than with mechanics. Many people study for the sole purpose of driving their own vehicle. If a person is sure that he will always drive only with an automatic transmission, then he can learn on just such a vehicle. That is, since 2014, the driving school is obliged to provide a choice: MCP or AKP.

Accordingly, if you take a course on a car with automatic transmission, then the corresponding mark will be in the driver's license - AT. You will not be allowed to drive a car with a manual transmission, this will be a violation.

If you want to study mechanics, you will need to retake the practical course.

Changes in the curriculum

The changes primarily affected the receipt of category “B”, which is the most popular among the population. The basic theoretical course has now been expanded from 84 hours to 104 hours.

On the theory, now they study not only legislation, traffic rules, first aid. Psychological aspects have also been added to take into account the traffic situation, the rules for the peaceful coexistence of pedestrians and motorists, much attention is paid to the behavior of the most vulnerable categories of pedestrians - children and pensioners, who very often cause traffic accidents.

As for the cost of education - such changes will affect the cost, it will increase by about 15 percent.

It is worth saying that the cost is a relative concept, since it depends on many factors: the technical equipment of the school, its location, the availability of additional services, and so on. The legislation only specifies how many minimum hours should be devoted to practice, how many to driving.

If before these changes the minimum cost was 26,5 thousand rubles, now it is already a little more than 30 thousand rubles.

Practical driving will now take 56 hours, and first aid and psychology courses will take 36 hours. That is, now the full course of study at a driving school is designed for 190 hours, and before these changes it was 156 hours. Naturally, the possibility of individual lessons with an instructor for a fee has been preserved, in case you want to work out some skill that you can’t manage to do.

Passing exams at school

Another innovation is that driving license exams can now be taken at the driving school itself, and not at the examination department of the traffic police. If the school has all the necessary equipment, and the cars are equipped with video recording equipment, then the presence of traffic police representatives is not mandatory. If this is not possible, then the exam is taken in the old fashioned way in the traffic police.

Now each driving school must obtain a license, which is issued based on the results of the audit. When choosing a driving school, be sure to check the availability of this license.

In addition, shortened programs will be banned. It's no secret, after all, that many novice drivers are already quite well versed in traffic rules and the nuances of driving, and they come to study only for the sake of crust, choosing shortened programs. This is now impossible, you will need to take a full course of study and pay for it.
