Peugeot e-2008 – TeMagazin.de review [video]

German website TeMagazin tested the Peugeot e-2008 electric B-SUV class crossover. The car could be a good alternative to the Hyundai Kona Electric or even the Kia e-Niro if one doesn't need the range offered by the 64 kWh battery, according to the columnist. The car gave the impression of being more comfortable and "organized".

Review: Peugeot e-2008

Technical data and dimensions

Peugeot e-2008 is one of the visually most attractive electrics in the B-SUV segment. You can see the same claw as the e-208, but the car has a taller silhouette and probably a higher driving position. Driving experience

The trip was very comfortable - the car performed better than the Hyundai Kona Electric. The cabin was quiet and, unlike the Kony Electric, the driver's ears did not hear the distinct sounds of rolling wheels. The microphone picked up a slight whistle of the engine, but it was not annoying.

In sports driving mode, the car's reaction to pressing the accelerator pedal has changed - it has become more abrupt. The car was moving well, but there were no problems with poor adhesion... The electronics did not have to interfere here, as in other electric vehicles, when you press the gas pedal.

We also find out that in the mode:

  • Eco the car has a power of 60 kW and a torque of 180 Nm (?),
  • Normal start the vehicle has a power of 80 kW and a torque of 220 Nm,
  • Sports we have the full power of the vehicle at our disposal, that is, 100 kW and 260 Nm of torque.

The body of the e-2008 was slightly wobbly than the Kona Electric. The driver noticed two levels of recuperation and probably didn't like that they were weaker than the Konie Electric.

Interior and trunk

The reviewer liked the displays and interior lighting - especially since the latter can change color. The car doors use hard plastics, but they are of good quality and make a solid impression. You need to get used to the meters, because they are located more steering wheel. In most cars we look at them by steering wheel.

The interior is soft, and in addition to leatherette, a carbon-like coating is used. The middle tunnel has a USB C socket, a standard USB and a 12 volt charging socket. They are covered in glossy black plastic (English Piano black).

During the presentation of the counters, curiosity arose: A fully charged Peugeot e-2008 reported a range of 240 km.... The German stated that we are dealing with a pre-production car, but, in our opinion, this value is pretty close to the truth:

Rear sill high the back seat was cramped for a youtuber 1,85 meters tall. So, if the driver is a man of normal build, a child or teenager will be comfortable behind him. Let's add that in Peugeot e-208 it is even tougher - the wheelbase of the car is smaller and is 2,54 meters, which negatively affects the size of the cabin.

The plastic on the back is hard, but with small inserts made of soft leatherette. On the plus side, there is a large headroom.

According to the columnist, there is not much more trunk space than in Konie Electric, although the numbers suggest otherwise: according to official figures Trunk volume Hyundai Kona Electric - 332 liters.so the difference in minus konya is 73 liters. There is no trunk under the front hood of the e-2008, there is only a black cover that hides the engine and, probably, the inverter. We didn't see a heat pump therebut the shots weren't very good.

The presenter was surprised that part of the latch sticks out of the mask - ideal for breaking it with his head in the dark.

The charging socket is covered with a gasket around it. Youtuber decided it was risky because he could fight back and let moisture seep inside. It is possible, although other manufacturers use a similar solution.

Peugeot e-2008 will go on sale in the first-second quarter of 2020. According to our estimates, its price in Poland will start at less than 150 PLN.
