Why does the V-belt squeak?

There may be at least several reasons for this phenomenon.

- After prolonged use, the belt wears out, stretches, wears out the side surfaces, sometimes cracks. When the belt is pulled out, it is not properly tensioned and begins to slip and squeak under load. In systems where the belt is pressed by the tension roller, it happens that the characteristic squeak is not emitted by the belt itself, but by the tensioner.
