Presentation: Husqvarna 2009

If you are better aware of what was going on in the dirty world, you can still remember the period when 350 cubic meters four-stroke engines reigned supreme, which then grew to 400 and last but not least to 450 cubic centimeters of displacement. However, the wheel of development is back, and unusual cubes are clearly in vogue. And not because of the fuss, but because of the practicality.

Today, the Husqvarna 450 is a lot, maybe too much for the average enduro rider, and the TE 510 is only for crunches who weigh over 90kg after emptying their bladder in the morning. Why not TE 250? Well, yes, this is a great bike, the best in its class, but it is designed for riders who are bound to the volume of the unit determined by the rules. The 310, however, is somewhere in between.

Basically it's a TE 250 with the same frame, suspension, wheels, brakes, etc., but with a 249cc engine? by increasing the wellbore from 76 mm to 83 mm, increased to 297 cm? ... It is a mixture of a lightweight and manageable motorcycle with little added power in the engine itself. For the hobbyist looking to sweat in a nearby forest or motocross track after a hard day's work, that's more than enough.

What's more, our tasting of the newcomer to the standard line of four-stroke models produced interesting results. We preferred it to the TE 450! The proving ground was a large running track enriched with typical enduro elements. So, mud puddles, a narrow passage between the fence and the track, and then several ascents and descents, all, of course, on very steep, dusty and rolling stones filled with earth.

Sometimes it seemed to us that the engine did not need anything other than third gear! The first one is really so short that we don't need it at all for anything other than trial climbing and extreme climbing. The second is ideal for closed corners and starts, and the third for everything else. Except for faster forest roads, we managed to get to the end of the gearbox, that is, to sixth gear. The engine is extremely flexible, pulls well and continuously from low revs, and above all, it loves to rev to the limiter, and this is its biggest advantage.

The ergonomically positioned gear lever requires virtually no gear shifting. Everything can be done with the help of the right wrist, which determines how much fuel the Mikuni suction and injection unit will measure at the moment using the electronic controller.

Husqvarna is using electronic fuel injection on four-stroke models for the second year in a row, and if we had any comments last year, we will now be silent. Everything works smoothly and adequately. Once again, the ease of driving is exceptional. It responds precisely and quickly to the wishes of the rider and, above all, clearly follows the established line in the corners. The bike as a whole runs reliably, consistently and is the perfect combination for the average enduro rider. We were delighted!

Like the entire four-stroke line, the TE 310 features an updated frame that's stiffer and a kilo lighter than last year. Important innovations in the family are: daisy-chained brake discs that at first glance are stronger when braking, redesigned suspension, swingarm, improved transmission and oil circulation, and a new aluminum damper that meets the Euro3 standard without changes. However, the TE 250 and 310 now have steel exhaust valves as they are more durable than titanium. But these changes and more aggressive graphics are not the only novelty of white and red from Varese.

The brand new model is the WR 125 teen two-stroke two-stroke. Husqvarna believes in enduro two-stroke technology (and more and more customers), so they paid a lot of attention to detail during the rebuild. Even more famous is the unit, which is very similar to the cross-model CR 125 but otherwise new to the WR: a frame modeled after the four-stroke sisters, exhaust system, fuel tank, airbox, 15mm front pedals, lower seat height from the floor and plastic parts. So, if you want your "baby" to be healthy, put him on such an adrenaline bomb instead of a computer or TV.

Another novelty is the already mentioned WR 300, which is actually the same as the WR 250, only it has a volume increased to 293 cm? and is a replica of a racing car from the World Enduro Championship driven by Seb Guillaume, a Frenchman ranked in the top three in the world.

Husqvarna is also betting on two young riders, Pole Bartosz Oblucki and Antoine Mea, who is a newcomer to enduro this year, comes from motocross (MX1) and belongs to the young generation of French cross-country skiers. Well, in 2009, after a successful season this year, he will undoubtedly compete for the top spots. Husqvarna also wants to go back there with sales figures, and as promised by BMW bosses, they intend to do so with an even wider range of enduro, motocross and mini-cross motorcycles.
