The life of a truck driver is much more difficult than that of a simple small car owner. Trucks, unlike cars, cannot drive freely on any city roads. Often you can see the sign - "Movement of trucks is prohibited."

All this is explained very simply:

  • trucks produce much more noise and pollute the environment;
  • in heavy traffic, they cause rapid wear of the roadway;
  • trucks can block traffic for other vehicles.

That is why Article 12.11, part two of the Code of Administrative Offenses says that trucks of category “C”, that is, heavier than three and a half tons, do not have the right to move on highways beyond the second lane. There is a penalty for such violation. one thousand rubles.

In the event that the driver of a truck passes under the sign 3.4 - “No entry for trucks”, then, according to Article 12.16, part six, he will face a monetary penalty of five hundred rubles. However, Article 12.16 of the Code of Administrative Offenses has recently been supplemented with a new paragraph - the seventh, and it says:

  • driving under the sign 3.4 in Moscow and St. Petersburg is punishable by a fine 5 thousand rubles.

Five thousand rubles for a simple driver of some GAZ-53 or ZIL-130 is almost half the salary, so you need to be careful.

Sign 3.4 may simply indicate a truck, but often it can indicate the weight of the car - 3 and a half tons, 6 tons, 7 and so on. Some drivers mistakenly believe that this refers to the actual weight of the vehicle. However, this is the maximum allowed weight, which is indicated in the instructions. That is, if a car weighs three and a half tons without a load, and 7 tons fully loaded with a driver and a passenger, then it cannot enter even empty under the sign “traffic of 7 tons is prohibited”.

Although, as usual, there are exceptions:

  • utility vehicles or postal cars;
  • delivery of goods or trucks that carry passengers;
  • cars that are on the balance sheet of enterprises located in the zone of the sign.

The zone of action of the sign can be indicated by the plate 8.3.1-8.3.3 if the sign is in front of a turn or an intersection. If he stands behind the intersection, then his area of ​​\uXNUMXb\uXNUMXbaction ends at the next intersection. Well, if the driver enters this zone from some adjacent lane, then he cannot be punished in any way for violating the rules.

Also, the sign “Movement of trucks is prohibited” may be temporary, as, for example, in many metropolitan cities, where the movement of trucks is not very welcome. In this case, under the sign there will be a sign indicating its validity period - at the entrances to Moscow from 7:22 to 6:24 on weekdays and from XNUMX:XNUMX to XNUMX:XNUMX on weekends and holidays.

If you urgently need to deliver some cargo to Moscow, then you will have to obtain a special permit and prepare all documents indicating the exact weight. If the data on the mass does not correspond to reality, then you will also have to pay for overloading the car and hiding information about the weight, while the amount of the fine for legal entities can reach 400 thousand rubles.
