Penalties for neglecting the “No Stopping” sign, as well as for non-compliance with the rules regarding places where it is forbidden to stop the car and leave it in the parking lot, are quite serious. Therefore, it is necessary to repeat once again exactly where the stop is prohibited and what threatens for it.

If a motorist does not follow signs and road markings that impose restrictions on stopping or parking in one place or another, then, according to Article 12.16, part four, he will face a fine of 1,5 thousand rubles. and car arrest. If the driver falls under the same article, but already in Moscow or St. Petersburg, then the fine increases to three thousand rubles.

Stopping at unauthorized places may result in the following sanctions:

1. If the driver violated traffic rules regarding the rules for stopping, then according to article 12.19 part one, he will get off with the simplest punishment of 500 rubles. But such a light punishment threatens him if, by his actions, he did not interfere with other participants in the movement;
2. The second part of the same article provides for the collection of 3-5 thousand rubles for the fact that a motorist stopped his car in a parking lot for the disabled;
3. For stopping on the sidewalk, crossing, or drove past the Stop Line, he will have to pay a thousand rubles, and the car will be sent to a car impound;
4. On tram tracks or on the second and subsequent lanes of the carriageway - one and a half thousand rubles;
5. At a passenger transport stop or in its zone - one thousand rubles.

This article also states that for stopping in the wrong place within Moscow or St. Petersburg, the amount of the fine increases from 500 rubles to 1500, and for stopping on the sidewalk, pedestrian crossing or at a passenger transport stop in cities of federal significance, the fine is 3 thousand rubles and cars will be delayed.

It is worth noting that stopping is allowed only in emergency cases of a car breakdown, but measures must be taken to clear the roadway as soon as possible.

The fine also applies if the driver stops to pick up/drop off passengers.

If the car not only stops in the wrong place, but also interferes with other cars, then the fine will be 2000 rubles, in Moscow and St. Petersburg - 3 thousand, and your car will also be sent to a penalty area.
