Symptoms of a Faulty or Faulty AC Fan Control Module

Common symptoms include long running or non-running cooling fans, and poor airflow. Without repair, your car may overheat.

The air conditioning fan control module helps control the fan that supplies air to the vehicle interior, as well as the cooling system fans. The module helps to ensure that the cold air that is generated in the vehicle's air conditioning system is supplied to the passenger compartment. Air conditioning fans installed near the vehicle radiator are also controlled by this module.

Usually, you will have many signs that the A/C fan control module is failing. If the cooling fans start to run erratically, you may have a problem with the control module. Delaying this type of problem can lead to a number of issues that can result in damage to your vehicle. Replacing the A/C fan control module can save you a lot of time and money.

1. Cooling fans run for a long time

The cooling fans under the hood of your vehicle are designed to keep system components cooler. Typically, these fans turn on when the system gets too hot and turn off once the desired temperature is reached. If you notice that the cooling fans run for a very long time without shutting down, the A/C fan control module may need to be replaced.

2. Cooling fans don't work at all

If the cooling fans do not come on at all, this could also be a sign of damage to the fan control module. If the cooling fans are not working properly, you risk overheating your car. Operating the vehicle for an extended period of time may result in other damage such as a blown cylinder head gasket.

3. Weak airflow

Since this relay also controls the blower motor, you may notice that the airflow inside the car is significantly reduced. The module helps to regulate the power of the fan motor when needed, so it will stop working with this part. Weakened airflow can cause the vehicle interior to become very warm. The only way to resolve this issue is to replace the AC Fan Control Module.
