Test: Ducati Diavel Dark

What does cheating look like? It looks huge and bulky, but is actually incredibly agile, even convincing to drive! However, the one who rides it will receive a sense of superiority, there is no escape from it. A wide handlebar, a long and elongated silhouette with a low seat and a large 1.198cc twin-cylinder engine that could also drive a supercar is just a brutal combination. To see the rear wheel burn the easiest way, just get on the Diavela and open the throttle all the way to let all the fury of burnt gasoline blast out the exhaust pipe. Enviable 162 “horses” spin the rear wheel so fast that no tire in the world can withstand such a load. Then add another 130 Nm of torque and the recipe for chaos is here! While on the back is a 240mm Pirelli Diablo Rosso II supersport tire.

However, since this is a true Italian masterpiece known for its racing pedigree, the suspension is, of course, adjustable. The front pair of inverted Marzocchi forks and the rear single shock can be adjusted for comfort or hard racing if you're tempted to round corners. While the terrain for Diavel's house is actually a piece of flat asphalt road, on which he will impress with unusual drag-racing-style accelerations, he also feels surprisingly good around corners, and even more so in the city when he is slow, at the sound big two-cylinder engine catches the eye. When we look at the scales and find that this macho actually weighs in at a very light 210lbs when he's out of fuel, it's clear why he rides so lightly. If the brakes with 265mm brake discs and a pair of Brembo monoblock radial calipers and a 240mm wide rear tire can be said to be amazing, the price is a little less staggering. The basic version of Diavel Dark costs €18.990, the Carbon version is €22.690 and the prestige Titanium version is a whopping €29.990. So it is clear that this is a motorcycle for the elite.
