Volkswagen ID.4 - first impressions. Reviewer delighted, software with bugs [video]

The American channel Out of Spec Reviews got the chance to ride the Volkswagen ID.4, Volkswagen's first electric crossover powered by the MEB platform. Tested car ID.4 1st with rear wheel drive and battery capacity 77 (82) kWh, i.e. starting from Poland from 244 PLN (= price of VW ID.4 in 1st Max version).

Volkswagen ID.4 - impressions from a short trip

Already at the first contact with the car, you can see that at least a few orange lights come on in the instrument cluster, including the airbag symbol. This can be found in the Volkswagen ID.3 with which the ID.4 shares the platform and software. Another thing is that the car, which is due to start deliveries "in early 2021", probably shouldn't be flooding the user with so many warnings in the last week of November - but the software is said to be ready.

Drivers liked the work of the suspension, he liked the acceleration too offered by a 150 kW (204 hp) engine that drives the rear wheels. He only emphasized that acceleration of the Tesla Model S Performance cannot be expected, the Volkswagen ID.4 does not have such large overloads. Which seems like an advantage for a family SUV.

Another plus of the car was the soundproofing of the cabin. Reviewer overclocked 121 km / h and in the interior it was still quiet... According to him, it is incomparably [quieter] than in any other electrician (he himself drives a Tesla). He was comfortable driving, the armrest felt good (in our experience, it works better than it looks). Praised steering system operation less direct and more fluid than Tesla.

ID.4 should appear in Volkswagen trip planning mechanism based on distance traveled and Electrify America charging stations along the way. It is true that we are talking about the American variant of the car, but we expect a similar variant to be available in Poland as well – and hopefully this will include all stations, not just those operated by Volkswagen.

Contrary to what the reviewer says, the car must have an Auto Hold function, that is, apply the brakes when the car stops. It may have been invisible in the software version at the time, but it was in ID.3, so it will probably be in ID.4 as well. Summary? The reviewer liked the Volkswagen ID.4 ten times more than the Nissan Ariya.... This one is rear-wheel drive, the Ariya is front-wheel drive, this one has a 77 kWh battery, the Ariya has 65 kWh at the same price, and so on. He was delighted.

And so by the way: trunk volume VW ID.4 up to 543 liters.
