Tre Diapasons sports tourism is becoming more technological and comfortable. Stay versatile, powerful, and fun. And there is also a GT version for travel.

Since its debut in 2015 Honda Tracer 900 (formerly called MT-09 Tracer) has gained a lot of popularity due to its well-chosen design, one of the most interesting three-cylinder engines on the market, wide versatility and absolutely competitive quality. price ratio. In three years, it has "collected" more than 35.000 clients in Europe and in 2018 enters the market with a restyling that does not revolutionize the winning project, but is "limited" to improving its details. It grows in comfort, in equipment, in chassis and in technology, and also debuted in GT version designed for those who want the ultimate in equipment. 10.590 euro is the price of the standard version, and delivering the Gran Turismo home costs 12.190 euros. I tried them both in the south of Spain to find out advantages and disadvantages.

900 Yamaha Tracer 2018: How It's Changing

New Yamaha Tracer 900 my 2018 it has also changed slightly in design. Notice there is no distortion: only small details. New suction zone on fairing it has a more refined look and the line of tank side panels and conveyors has been revised to improve the overall style. New fairing, new rear wing, narrower handlebars than the previous model. The forend has become thinner and now there is a new one windshield manually adjustable for increased saddle comfort, providing better wind and weather protection. Change the position of the driver a little and the passenger will enjoy the new handles and new footrests. The saddle (adjustable in two positions) is completely new and guarantees more comfort, especially over long distances.

For 2018, the Tracer 900 also introduces a new pendulum longer, while the monoshock calibration has been revised to further enhance the vehicle's "touring performance" (and improve compatibility with hard pads). The heart of the beating heart remains the breathtaking 847cc three-cylinder engine. 115 CV at 10.000 rpm and 87.5 Nm at 8.500 rpm. It is helped by the clutch antisaltellamento and electronics that provide traction control at three levels, three driving modes D-MODE and (optional as standard) Quick Shift.

The frame remains in die-cast aluminum and also at the front we always find an inverted fork adjustable from 41 mm (only ...) and mono pre-tensioned. There GT versioninstead, it adds a series of exclusive equipment, among which stand out rigid 22-liter saddlebags in the same color as the livery, TFT gauges, heated handles, fully adjustable gold-colored fork, remote adjustable mono preload, Quick shift (uphill only) and Cruise control.

Yamaha Tracer 900 2018: how are you

He is light, fun and versatile, just like his little sisters. In addition, however, with it you can travel... Because he has a comfortable saddle (even after many hours on the road), a windshield that reflects the air well, a tendency to load bags (side, not side) and design that especially contributes to comfort. And it remains easy. Although the saddle height from the ground has increased by 5 mm, the legs are easy to set up and the light weight (only 215 kg) also helps those without a lot of experience.

Obviously, the engine remains one of its strong points. It has push extraordinary, starting at low rpm, which remains constant all the way to the limiter. Recovery is also excellent and there is no on-off effect at the start. When you decide to act quickly, you have absolutely no control; even if for maximum sensation it would be necessary to set fork and mono at a "more athletic level". WITH Quick shift then the fun ride is even more beautiful: gear changes, especially at medium-high revs, are ideal; instead, you should always use the clutch when lifting.

The trump card is the price / quality ratio: it is really difficult to find a sports-touring bike on the market that could do a little bit of everything, well, with such a powerful engine, at such a low price. It is clear that some defect yes - you can feel some vibrations between 4.000 and 5.000 rpm - but you can't "eat your cake and eat it". Of the two, I'd prefer the GT: because taking the Tracer to avoid travel doesn't make much sense (so you'll have to buy bags anyway) and because the handles are heated and Cruise control they really matter, not forgetting that on Gran Turismo you can also fully customize the suspension.
