Because they go fast, they brake very well, they stay on the bend without losing the grandstand on the asphalt, and they are also so comfortable that, if you like, you can also drive on weekends without too much sacrifice. The Yamaha family has now expanded withX Max 400, offered at a price not as important as the T-Max: 6.690 euro.

More attractive and comfortable

The aesthetics are tough, very Japanese style, even if Yamaha tries to emphasize that the final lines significantly influenced European designer... The fact remains: the new sports scooter stands out for its sharp surfaces softening in the saddle and tail, headlights with clear cutouts, an important muffler, and high-tech details. Yamaha says that the main goal in creating the new X-Max was, in no way demeaning them. performanceto increase the comfort of the driver and passenger: tall wheels (15 inches in front and 13 in the rear), new front and rear suspensions, a windshield and steering wheel adjustable in two positions, and a thick saddle, like the Poltrona Frau (with a kind of backrest for the driver), immediately give an idea that it is possible to drive kilometers without being stunned by the air in the face and without moving around the city, without transmitting blows on the sidewalk suspension to the cervical spine. And always in context comfort It should be noted that there are two full-face helmets (or A4 bag) in the compartment under the saddle (illuminated), and small items are placed in the other two compartments on the sides of the steering column. The capacity of the fuel tank is 14 liters, a lot so that you do not have to constantly stop for gasoline on the highway. The Yamaha scooter does not need a metal key: it comes with a smart key to unlock the alarm, start the engine and open the compartment under the saddle.

Dynamic balance

We had the opportunity for the first time to experience the dynamic qualities of the X-Max between the Milan city circuit, the ring road and the provincial roads of Lombardy. The first feeling is that it's all the same scooteroniIn terms of physical characteristics, they are close to motorcycles: even five kilograms lighter than the previous version, the X-Max still weighs 210 kg. Then, of course, the chassis is superb, and once you shift the weight, you feel stable and secure. IN engine single cylinder, 395 cc, Euro4 homologated, rated power 24,5 kW at 7.000 rpm and 36 Nm of torque: enough for acceleration and endurance even on infamous surfaces thanks to TCS anti-slip system which prevents the rear wheel from slipping. Always braking flawlessly thanks to advanced ABS, which prevents blockages that can stunt less experienced drivers. The performance is sporty, but not sensational: if you get off the T-Max (which also costs almost double the price), it seems boring. But if you get there from other scooters, even with the same engine size, the feeling will be different, more sporty. Also because the X-Max 400 has a rare dynamic balance and therefore allows high averages (130 km / h on the motorway is not a problem) and fast gears, with complete folding safety and a front that stays underneath where you put it the rear wheel is also included, which never shows signs of loss of traction. Finally, as always, this scooter can also be equipped with a range of special products, depending on whether you prefer sporty spirit or comfort.
