Replacing the fuel filter Opel Astra H

1,4L, 1,6L, 1,8L gasoline engines are equipped with one fuel module, and a separate filter is not provided. However, there are craftsmen who, due to the poor quality of gasoline, independently add an external fuel filter to the system. We do not support such improvements and modifications, but due to the popularity of the method, we will describe it for review, in case someone really needs such a modification. We only remind you that such interventions are carried out at your own peril and risk, the manufacturer is categorically against such tuning.

Retrieving the Module

First you need to get to the fuel module. Opel Astra H has it in the tank under the rear passenger seat. We disassemble the seat and take out the module itself, where the Opel Astra N fuel filter is located.

Disassembly and modification

We take the module in our hands and carefully open it. We see inside the fuel pump, connected by a tube to the fuel filter, a pressure regulator is also attached. The second tube goes to the fuel line.

1. We disassemble the tube that connects the filter to the pump.
2. We disconnect the second tube from the module cover and put on the plug.
3. We take the purchased pipes and a brass tee and assemble everything. We first set the water to boil, since in it we will heat the ends of the tubes, making them elastic. It is not recommended to heat plastic pipes over an open fire, as they delaminate. We put all three tubes on the tee, we get a design in the form of the letter "T".
4. We connect the module cover and the fuel pump with our tube.
5. We connect the rest of T to the filter, to the pump and to the main fuel line. As shown in the video.
6. We carefully assemble the entire module and very carefully so as not to twist or pinch the tubes. And install on the tank.

The last step in replacing the Opel Astra N fuel filter is the transition to the engine compartment.

1. We choose a free place where the fuel filter will be located on our Opel Astra N.
2. Attach the filter to the housing so that it does not hang down.
3. Bring the fuel line to the engine to it and return it from the filter to the heart of our Opel Astra H. It is highly recommended to crimp all connections with clamps.

You can also install a pressure sensor through a tee as shown in the video. You just need to install a tee in front of the fuel filter and install a fuel pressure sensor.

It is necessary to start modification only if there was experience of similar work. We advise beginners to refrain from a tempting way to clean fuel, since all responsibility lies solely with the car owner.

Replacing an additionally installed Opel Astra N fuel filter is quite convenient.

The possibility of additional purification of the fuel entering the fuel system seems to be positive. Another advantage is the low price of the project. Of course, no one can give guarantees.
