A heat wave is passing through Poland. High temperatures and stuffy air can effectively discourage any kind of activity. But what to do when you have to work and use the car? Drivers should be careful not only for themselves, but also for their vehicles - how does heat affect driving? What should motorists pay attention to?
The summer heat is especially acute in city centers, where thermometers always show slightly higher values, and sometimes 
hard to hide from the sun. As such, city driving can be very tiring, especially when the expense includes... a long journey. “Although some citizens have gone on vacation, there are still morning and afternoon traffic jams in the centers of large Polish cities,” says Katarzyna Florkowska from Korkowo.pl. “Therefore, drivers are in a very stressful situation: on the one hand, they have to patiently drive around the city, and on the other hand, they have to deal with annoying heat,” explains Florkovska. So how do you avoid the heat and save your car from a breakdown?
Dandelions, kites, air conditioning
Motorists should remember - especially about themselves. A bottle of water on hand, light clothing and good sunglasses are essential. It is also worth remembering to take a rest break, especially if we cover a longer distance or feel tired. Driving comfort is also improved by carefully ventilating the vehicle and taking care of its internal temperature. If we don't have air conditioning, the task is a bit more difficult and you will have to rely on open windows or invest in car windmills. Their cost starts from 20 PLN.
The car is fixed and cooled down
The car is prepared for the heat even before the trip. To do this, it is worth changing the tires to summer ones and keeping the body clean. However, you should not wash your car at full temperature, as this will result in unsightly stains. It is also good to use a "warm" washer fluid or wax the car, which will partially protect it from the sun's rays. Particular attention should also be paid to the engine, which generates a large amount of heat during operation. What cools it, among other things, is engine oil, so check its level regularly and top up if necessary. Equally important is the care of the car's cooling system and regular correction of the coolant level. When you need to park your car, it's best to find a shady spot. However, it should be noted that the shadows move during the day and can quickly detect our car. It is strictly forbidden to leave children or pets in the vehicle. A hot car works like a furnace and poses a threat to the lives of passengers.
