Ford Focus Electric (2018) – TEST, impressions, reviews, review of the Fleetcarma portal

FleetCarma has conducted an electrical test for the Ford Focus (2018). The car has been praised for its classic look, but it has been scolded for its battery range that comes from a previous era. General tone of the review? It's probably not worth investing money.

The 2018 Ford Focus Electric looks the same as a year earlier. The parameters of the drive system have not changed either: according to the EPA, the car covers 185 kilometers on one charge, which is worse than the Opel Amper E (dark blue pillar on the right), the new Nissan Leaf (brick-red pillar) and even the VW e-Golf (black stripe) and Hyundai Ioniq Electric (purple stripe):

The 143-horsepower engine produces 250 Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 97-0 mph (60 km / h) in 9,9 seconds. This is worse than the competitor Nissan Leaf (2018), which accelerates from 100 to 8,8 km / h in XNUMX seconds..

> New project: the policy of responsibility is assigned to the DRIVER, not to the car

FleetCarma praises the car for its good handling thanks to its low center of gravity. However, he emphasizes that the assistance is strong, which prevents the steering wheel from feeling the road. We add that only three shopping nets and a laptop bag will fit in the trunk of a car, because the rest of the space is occupied by batteries:

Good standard equipment

According to the observer, the car looks better than most of the cars on the market in this segment: it does not seem plastic and cheap. Basic equipment includes LED taillights, heated mirrors, body-colored door handles and a rear spoiler. We will only pay for heated seats, which cost $ 1, which is equivalent to about 080 PLN.

The Ford Focus Electric also comes with a rearview camera as standard, but does not have any of the driver assistance systems: lane keeping, cruise control and blind spot monitoring. So it starts to stand out more and more from the competitors.

Summation

The FleetCarma portal tried not to discourage too much from the electric Ford Focus. However, reviews show frustration with the low range, which severely limits the vehicle's usability. The overall tone of the test is moderately negative, so it might be better to wait for the upcoming, completely new model:
