Test: Vespa GTS 300 Super

And Piaggia Vespa definitely offers it. It is true that the offer of city scooters is huge and cheaper, not least in the Piaggio Group's sales range we find the same powerful, more useful, as well as interesting and otherwise interesting city scooters, but the Vespa is unique in its own way. Every man for himself. It may be a somewhat presumptuous statement, but those who have some experience with Vespa and know the history of this scooter, even if it is a serial product, will agree with this.

With the GTS / GTV 250, the Vespa has already changed the standard for the most powerful city scooters, and with the GTS 300 IU, it has for the first time exceeded the quarter-liter class and shared public opinion on whether a powerful engine is really worth it. To be honest, we were completely satisfied with the brilliance of the quarter-liter engine from a good year ago, but the 300 cubic meter unit is still slightly superior to its predecessor.

The single-cylinder, four-stroke engine with electronic fuel injection looks much more lively and sharper in practice, despite almost the same power and only slightly higher torque on paper. The driver will feel this progress, especially when driving together, when the engine is not out of breath even on serious descents, and the smile on his face will be attracted by the more powerful engine every time he starts at full speed.

The Vespa 300 really drives out of town like a doped athlete and can measure speeds of at least 70 kilometers per hour with twice the size of the scooters. To summarize, the 250cc model is doing well and the 300cc sprinter is doing well. See literally flies.

The chassis has also moved significantly forward, with a slightly shorter wheelbase and stiffer suspension providing more stability at higher speeds, keeping it calm in corners and allowing slightly deeper grades.

The brake package consists of two brake discs, which with the Vespa's weight, regardless of the driver's requirements, do not have to work hard and stop safely and reliably. At first, moving the front brake lever for long periods of time seemed annoying, but on smooth urban asphalt we found that the dosing of the braking force was more accurate and therefore safer.

In the case of the Vespa, changes do not always start and end with a new model only in the case of technology, but visual modifications are also needed that at first glance will separate the new model from the others and place them in a suitable place. ...

Considering the fact that this is roughly the 150th Vespa, the designers don't do much detail. They simply look through old sketches and, with feeling and intelligence, embody design solutions from the past into a modern and contemporary model.

While the Vespa 300 GTS is a modern scooter in terms of the engine, the designers decided that it would be a product of a simpler design, but still aesthetically perfect. The sheet metal body has remained largely unchanged, with only the ventilation slots in the rear right-hand side, and the comfortable and spacious seat replaced and stitched together. The red spring in the front suspension matches the sporty character, while the front fender strip and lettering also flirt with the past.

In general, the Vespa 300 is perfectly designed, not a single detail is left to chance, although without accessories it seems a little meager at first glance, but a rich list of original accessories and a sea of unoriginal accessories allow every owner to add a part of their character to the Vespa. The designer's only complaint is the cheap digital clock on the beautiful dashboard. Considering Maserati has a rolex on the dashboard, the most prestigious Vespa could have at least an analog zzero.

If you are thinking of buying a Vespa, don't think about breaking speed records and longer rides, as this is a scooter, not a motorcycle, but expect the Vespa to please you with all its good and less good features, raising your spirits. over and over again as needed, as well as rejuvenation. An excellent choice anyway.
